Severus hated the curtains. They were a moldy color and despite the careful notions along the bottom, including sun-stained lace and tiny, crocheted flowers, they were absolutely hideous. But he never got rid of them. They hung in the bedroom, an ugly reminder of the ugly, soft-spoken woman who made them.

When Remus tried to replace them, Severus threw a fit. He kicked Remus out of the bedroom for nearly a week, angry beyond words. Wisely, Remus didn’t try again. Instead, he bought a more ugly set for the living room. Severus just rolled his eyes and dealt with it.
